Region
The Pays d`Oc is a hot, dry, hilly region of contrasting soil types adjoining the Mediterranean coast. It is perfectly adapted to the cultivation of the vine, which by origin is a Mediterranean plant. The hills surrounding the city of Carcassonne are the source for this wine, where the limestone serves to keep the roots relatively cool, thus providing a freshness that is often missing in southern French wines.
Producer
The `Duc de Chapelle` range of French regional wines were created by the buying team to satisfy the demands of discerning restaurateur. Each autumn, as the new vintage fermentations are completed, the Chapelle blends are created from the selected vats submitted by regional producers from South West France and northern Languedoc. The resulting wines have clearly defined varietal character and universal appeal.A Duc de Chapelle wine has twice been selected into the ‘Top 100 Vin de Pays’.
Tasting Notes
An aromatic Sauvignon Blanc, typically grassy in style with zesty lemon and lime character. Full of exotic gooseberry and grapefruit flavours which develop on the palate creating a well rounded wine, ending with a fresh and rounded acidity.
Food
An excellent aperitif wine and good accompaniment to cold seafood salads, shellfish, grilled vegetables and asparagus.
