Postal Courier / Shipping Information
Thank you for choosing to shop with The Original Maids of Honour, here is some information regarding our collection, delivery and shipping services that we think may be useful, along with some information to help when ordering through our website.
Manual Orders – Maids of Honour will no longer be taking manual orders over the phone. This is to ensure that mistakes cannot be made on product selection, contact details or collection/delivery dates and times. If you need any assistance using our online shop please call Maids of Honour and a member of staff will be happy to assist you.
Any orders cancelled with less than 48hours notice will not be refunded.
Packaging Safety
Our packaging contains re-usable, cooling ice packs which can last up to 72 hours. However, we do advise keeping these out of reach of children. Our cardboard delivery boxes are 100% recyclable. We would advise keeping all these components out of reach of children, and we cannot accept liability for any injuries that may occur that are either directly or indirectly linked to any packaging.
Shipping/Posting Courier Service
Maids of Honour can now ship nationwide on certain produce. To select items for shipping please select the ‘Online Shop’ tab on the website homepage, then select the ‘Postal Courier Service’ to select your items for posting.
Please be aware when ordering for posting that not all items can be shipped. If you have selected an item that it is not possible to ship, when you review your basket you will only see the option to deliver or collect. Once the non-shipping items have been removed from the basket a third icon will appear with the option ‘Postal Courier Service’. No produce with fresh cream inside can be shipped.
We use DPD & DHL for all of our deliveries for food and gifts. Whilst they are unable to guarantee delivery within 24hrs and 48hrs on seasonal times of the year, we believe they are the best couriers in the market, with a completion rate very close to 99%. During a pandemic when delivery demand reaches an unprecedented high, there may be occasions when DPD & DHL is unable to deliver within 24 hours, and will therefore miss the chosen delivery date. Maids of Honour will continue to send produce the day before the chosen delivery date to ensure that in the majority of cases where food is delivered on time it arrives as fresh as is possible.
We are not able to take liability for occasions when DPD & DHL is unable to deliver on time, beyond sending food with suitable chilled packaging to ensure produce is safe for consumption for up to 48 hours in transit.
If your delivery destination is particularly rural (or in an area particularly far away from the nearest DPD & DHL depot) it can take DPD & DHL 48 hours to deliver to you. This happens rarely and does not apply to all remote areas, but if you think you are rural enough for this to apply to you; and you would like to check; please contact Maids of Honour with your postcode before ordering and we can contact DPD & DHL to check this for you.
Our aim is to deliver all accepted orders on your chosen delivery date. For orders from our Online Postal Courier Shop, there is a possibility that stock may be running low and we will have to delay delivery - this should never be by more than 2 days maximum and we will always inform you.
We are able to deliver to both residential addresses and business addresses. Before completing your purchase, you must indicate instructions for the courier as to where your delivery should be left in the event nobody is present to receive the order.
This is not a signed for service, so it can be simply 'on the porch', as well as 'with a neighbour'. It is important that you are as specific as possible with these instructions. Please note that should your indicated preference not be secure; we are unable to assume liability for loss or damage incurred as a result of the product being left in/at that location. If our couriers deem a 'safe place' location not to be secure, either because it is exposed to the elements, or it is visible from the road, they may return to the depot with it.
In such cases, you will be informed via the tracking service (text message and/or email) and with a slip through the letterbox. You can then either arrange re-delivery directly with them for the next day, or to collect from the depot. This should be done the following day to ensure the product remains in pristine condition. We can accept no liability if you are unavailable to either receive or collect your delivery the day following the scheduled delivery date where the 'safe place' has been deemed insecure by the courier.
If there is nobody due to be present at the delivery address on the estimated delivery date who can refrigerate the products, we are unable to accept liability for perished goods. It is your responsibility to ensure that someone will be present on the estimated delivery date, and that they are able to refrigerate the goods on that day. On receipt of your order, we advise you refrigerate the product straight away.
On occasion they may deliver later than the usual time of 8am till 6pm so please wait until 10pm on busy times of the year. If your order has not arrived by the end of the next day, then please let us know as soon as possible, and we will investigate. Whilst we endeavour to investigate and to rectify any issues that may occur with DPD & DHL during shipping we cannot be liable for late or lost packages, where the error is with DPD & DHL .
We ship Monday through to Thursday for deliveries on Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday. We are currently unable to send via postal courier at the weekend.
Buying Alcohol via our Online Shop
You must be over 18 to buy alcohol via our website. We will not sell or deliver alcohol to anyone who is, or appears to be, under the age of 18. By placing an order you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and we reserve the right not to deliver if we are unsure of this.
Allergies
Whilst we aim to provide relevant information on our website (or in store) concerning allergens in our products, if you do have an allergy please inform staff or add a note to your online order. This allows us to check that both the product selected is allergen free and so enable us to minimise any cross contamination of trace of allergen within your order. Maids of Honour is unable to guarantee against a trace of any allergen as we cook in an open air kitchen and we do use certain allergens in many of our products.
