Maids Covid Stories

"As a local, I have been enjoying the delicious lunches and afternoon teas at Maids of Honour for over 10 years. Sadly, due to the Covid-19 crisis my mother’s annual birthday lunch was cancelled until I realised Maids of Honour were open and accepting takeaway orders! When I spoke to Kimberley to arrange a collection of some takeaway pie lunches and cakes for the special day, Kimberley came up with the wonderful idea of a full MoH cream tea at home - silverwear, homemade napkins, cakestand, plates and even doilies were all provided along with scones, loose tea, pastries! Mum was delighted and we enjoyed a yummy celebratory lunch and cream tea at home :) While the restaurant is closed Kimberley, Assia and the team are busily serving their local community and beyond with lovingly made cakes, pastries, pies, lunches and store cupboard essentials (bread, flour, eggs, cheese, meat etc). I was even able to buy some plain flour (and cake) today having searched the supermarkets without success for the past 2 weeks. I can not recommend Maids of Honour highly enough - the scones are like little fluffy clouds, the pastries (sweet & savoury) are delicious and the service is exceptional! I always leave smiling and the team have taken measures to ensure customer safety when collecting takeaways. I look forward to returning to the restaurant when they reopen, and in the meantime I will continue to enjoy a weekly treat to keep the lockdown blues at bay! Thank you to Kimberley, Assia and all the team xx"

Walked up to maids of honour as there isn’t any eggs of flour anywhere due to covid. They had both and we sampled their sausage rolls fresh from the oven and cream cakes. Sausage rolls were the best we tasted for a long time, no horrible meat bits just lovely pork. Wanted a chicken slice but got these instead. Very yummy. Great apricot slice and chocolate choux bun. They are letting one in one out and cleaning between customers so felt fine going there. Staff are great and knowledgable. Had a nice chat with the owner about different flour and yeast. Back next week for my chicken pie slice unless the sausage rolls have just come out. Maybe I’ll buy both instead.

"Maids of Honour was well organised. Excellent queuing system, staff are wearing
protective PPE and tables are cleaned as soon as become available. Sufficient spacing for take away orders and sit in. Good social distancing between tables and there is also a lovely outside sitting area too. It accepts contactless as well as cash."
